First Birthday Games

There are a limited number of games that can be played with one year olds, but here are a few suggestions.

Nursery Rhyme Sing-Song

Ask all the guest (including parents) to sit in a circle holding their children Sing a number of popular nursery rhymes, making actions where appropriate Popular nursery rhymes include

Baa Baa Black Sheep
The Wheels on the Bus
Old MacDonald
The Grand Old Duke of York
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Roll the Ball

Ask all the guest (including parents) to sit in a circle holding their children Call out the name of a child and roll the ball to them Their parent then calls out the name of another child and rolls the ball to them etc.

Paddling Pool or Sandpit

If the party is to be held outside, you could allow the children to play in a paddling pool (filled with water or plastic balls) or sandpit. Note: Children in a paddling pool must be supervised at all times.
