Here at Party Ark we’ve spent the weekend shivering under about six feet of snow, but managed to build a snowhole which was very exciting. We well remember this time last year picnicking in the sun.
We’ve got some fantastic new themes coming on line at the moment, including the really lovely Little Dancers range (above). We’re also coming to the end of our Easter stock – if you’re stuck for ideas we’ve made a Pinterest Board with some smashing craft activities too.
Today is also the 1,592nd birthday of Venice when the church of Sand Giacomo was founded on the Rialto at midday. The church, close to the Rialto bridge, is most recognisable by it’s giant one-handed clock.
It’s probable that Venice originated as a response to the Huns and Goths overrunning post-Roman Italy. They retreated from the mainland to the marshy lagoons and started building. If you’re lucky enough to visit Venice, you need to know that each district has its own house numbering system which generally involves giving out a unique number to every house known only to locals and postmen.
Easter day is on Sunday, and while we’re all eating chocolate it’s also the Oxford v Cambridge Boat Race which is always a Light Blue event at Party Ark. We’d like to see the crews race in Venice agains the gondalas, or maybe we could invite the Ventian taxi-men to the Thames.
